The idea of augmenting the magnificence of the Cathedral Organ with the brilliance of the Modern Valved Trumpet is provoking the interest and imagination of both audiences and composers alike. The range of the program offered here shows insight into the versatility of the combination: Joyful and Glorious music from the Baroque, Beautiful and soulful melodies found in the Faure and Gounod, and powerful forces of transparent colour found in the work by Petr Eben.

Australian trumpeter John Coulton, along with English organist David Dunnett give “superb” performances of the trumpet and organ repertoire spanning five centuries on this their début recording from the heavenly acoustics of the Ancient Cathedral of Norwich.
